Description of Cultural Immersion & Endemic Bird Photography Tour

Cuba is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, vibrant culture, and unique biodiversity. Birding in Cuba is a remarkable experience. According to the latest “Endemic Birds of Cuba: A Comprehensive Field Guide,” Cuba boasts 371 recorded bird species, including 29 endemics and 30 globally threatened species. Its significant land area and strategic Caribbean location make Cuba crucial for Neotropical migratory birds, with over 180 species passing through or wintering on the island.

Our itinerary covers several of Cuba’s best bird photography locations, offering opportunities to observe many of Cuba’s endemic species and subspecies, as well as numerous migrants. Along the way, you’ll meet local communities, stay mainly in Bed & Breakfast establishments (casas), and enjoy meals at these casas, immersing yourself in Cuba’s rich culture, delicious food, friendly people, and generous hospitality.

Join a photo instructor and Gabriel Lugo for a photography trip of a lifetime.

We are traveling to Cuba under group license 515.574 “Support for the Cuban people,” licensed by the OFAC Department of Treasury. Our full schedule of activities will enhance contact with Cuban people, support private businesses and independent activities, and strengthen civil society in Cuba.
